ah yes, that is certainly a likely possibility and would explicate information technology.

For the extra money I'one thousand paying in fees, I'm parking in loading zones at present. I demand the extra space anyways with the DC LB.

It would get thrown out. Since the law says all pickups are commercial vehicles, the fees aren't illegal. Unjust maybe, merely illegal, no.

You have no choice to annals information technology as commercial or not-commercial unless you have a beat out on information technology. If y'all annals it every bit non-commercial with the crush on, you have to leave the shell on at all times.

DC brusque bed is $87 extra, not $24. The weight of the double cab is around 4500 lbs.

All nosotros demand is a legal leg to stand on. If a judge were to here the case by some miracle and rule that the law is unjust then we would win. I know that judges aren't supposed to legislate from the bench simply damit. If nothing changes, and so nothing changes.

Question directed at no specific person

Why is it that in club for people to incite change in our state/state it is usually under the rubric of anger or fright.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front end air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
My advise, go on contacting your state representative and get the law inverse so this crap won't keep biting everyone going forward.

As for suing the land of California... 1st you'd accept to be a citizen of the country or else they can claim 11th Amendment amnesty. And if you are a California citizen then perchance you could sue them... I'thousand sure y'all're thinking one of these class action suites with millions of dollars in damages that basically but makes lawyers rich. Because you'll only individually exist entitled to your damages, which would be a few hundred buck, mayhap a grand or two. But the trouble is that it's a country law.

Anyhow, that takes the states back total circle to "Change THE DAMN LAW".

So, allow'due south outset a thread for alter the California Pickup police force correct hither on TW and get people to write their legislature. We'll need a template alphabetic character and the contact info for all the land representatives for easy access. BTW- they give postal mailed messages 100%more street cred and so emails.

Although I don't live in the state I'll be glad to start the fun :) Look for the thread in off-topc discussions. And get a lot of people to become involved. Later on all California is i/five the nations economy.. wow!

    Cheers!

    Don't park in loading zones!!!

OK, it's up to local municipal lawmaking but generally you tin't park in them and if you can then not for long. I don't know where in the bay area you're at only check out Sunnyvale for example... http://world wide web.qcode.us/codes/sunnyvale/view.php?topic=10-10_36-10_36_040&frames=on

Nope. DC Curt Bed is just $24. Only the DC Long Bed (perchance 4x4 with towing package is required too) has the $87 fee. If you've got a DC Brusque Bed and are paying the $87, and then they made a mistake. We just went over this on TN final calendar month when my registration came due. The weights used to determine the fee are NOT your GVWR. Look it up at DMV, and you lot'll see they utilize a unlike method of weight rating for the fee.

All trucks in California have been registered automatically as commercial for decades at present. Doesn't necessairly mean annihilation though.

Depends on the model of short bed. According to Toyota a double cab 4x4 short bed unladen weighs 4130 lbs (not the GVWR which is 5450) which puts me over the 4000 pound mark. If you're a Prerunner, the weight is 3920 which would put you nether the 4000 pound mark (and it should be $lxxx non $87, my mistake):

Per the california vehicle code 9400b:

    (b) For whatsoever motor vehicle having not more than 2 axles and
designed, used, or maintained as described in this section, other
than an electric vehicle, fees shall be paid according to the
    following schedule:

    Unladen Weight Fee
    Less than three,000 lbs..................... $ 8
3,000 lbs. to and including 4,000 lbs.. 24
four,001 lbs. to and including five,000 lbs.. eighty
5,001 lbs. to and including 6,000 lbs.. 154
6,001 lbs. to and including 7,000 lbs.. 204
seven,001 lbs. to and including 8,000 lbs.. 257
viii,001 lbs. to and including 9,000 lbs.. 308
9,001 lbs. to and including ten,000 lbs.. 360

It does mean something because it means yous pay more for the registration than you lot would if information technology were non commercial. Commercial vehicles pay extra in weight fees that non-commercial vehicles don't pay. See the schedule above.

I pay less on my 2005 Tacoma than I exercise on my 2004 Sienna minivan and the van has normal plates :D .. Probably true though amongst vehicles of the aforementioned class.

That's what's getting me here. I'yard guessing I'm wrong because the 2005 Tacomas were lighter than after years? Like I said, I was discussing this would a couple of locals on TN last month. Two guys shut to me are both paying $24. One of them has a DC SB Prerunner (2007), the other has a 2005 DC SB Off-Road 4x4. That's how we figured it was the difference betwixt short bed and long bed.

I just got my renewal yesterday for my '06 DC Prerunner and the chiliad full is $263 which includes the $24 weight fee. What really got my goat is the $20 smog abatement fee. I have to pay for not having to smog my vehicle. What a crock of poo !!!

So here's how a guy over on TN that was moving to Calif got his weight under the 4000 lbs marking in order to save money each year (annotation: the first time he weighed in, it was 4300 lbs)...
